2/27/2024 0 Comments Wiring trailer harness![]() And I know they had to rebuild the entire back end of the truck. The tailgate is not from a 2014 RTL and it is missing the backup camera. I knew it was rebuilt with replacement parts. I got my 2014 RTL with 58k miles for 19 grand. They specialize in rebuilding sal aged cars. They are very well know in Utah, Idaho, Nevada. The truck was rebuilt buy a company called auto-source. I am assuming that when the company rebuilt the rear-ended of the truck they installed a different wiring system. It is a rebuild, and was in an accident and was rear-ended. Sorry for the late response guys, my Ridgeline is indeed a 2014 RTL. I do that via my 7 pin to 4/5 pin adapter that also has a 12V socket outlet. The 20A power line is designed to run electric trailer brakes-which I don't need-so I use it as a strong 12V power outlet to run my air pump and other power tools that need DC power. The more electrical our vehicles become, the more risk there is in doing the old "traillight hacks." Yes, the OEM harness can be expensive ( $138 at BernardiParts), but it really is a safety issue and not something I would want to "hack" my way through.Īdditionally, I like the 20A power that the OEM 7 pin provides. you have to splice into the taillight wiring) and that eTrailer setup has you connect to wiring that was never designed to handle the draw of a trailer. Also the 4 pin setup being sold on eTrailer are "hack jobs" (i.e. Using the factory OEM harness has a lot of advantages. Then you just need a simple and inexpensive adapter to convert the 7 pin to a 4 or 5 pin that you desire. All you have to do is plug in the OEM trailer socket harness to the vehicle's 10 pin connector then add some fuses and a control unit in the cab and your done. The plug you are showing is the vehicle's 10 pin pre-wire connector that is setup for a trailer harness so you don't have to run your own wiring through the vehicle. However, it sounds like you have the lower trim version that only came with the class III hitch and not the wiring harness. It would help to know what trim level your 2014 Ridgeline is.
